Running a regression test

Execute a test to diff live Salesforce data against a snapshot baseline: pricing fields, configurator messages, or approval routing.

Prerequisites

Run a test manually

  1. Go to Snapshots and open the snapshot you want to test.
  2. Click Run test.
  3. Revsnap fetches the current quote and line items from Salesforce.
  4. The run starts and you can watch progress in real time.

Alternatively, start a run from the Snapshots list using the run action on each row.

What happens during a run

  1. Revsnap authenticates to the connected Salesforce org (the same org the snapshot was captured from)
  2. It fetches the live baseline for that category:
    • Pricing: quote and line-item fields
    • Configurator: configuration messages or scenario steps
    • Approval: Advanced Approvals preview for the golden quote
  3. Comparison highlights any differences against the stored snapshot
  4. The run completes with a pass or fail status

For approval-specific capture and report details, see Approval testing.

For configurator Scenario Builder capture, proof timelines, and rule patterns, see Configurator testing.

Viewing run history

All runs appear under Test Runs in the sidebar (/runs). The list shows recent regression runs across your snapshots and orgs, with status, duration, and links to detailed results.

A multi-rule configurator snapshot appears as a single entry in this list (with an "N rules" badge), not one entry per rule. Open it to see each rule as a collapsible section.

Run limits

Test runs count against your workspace's test run limit for the billing period. Check the usage meter on your dashboard or billing page.

Each rule of a multi-rule configurator snapshot counts as an individual test run: a 5-rule snapshot uses 5 units of quota per launch.
